Alone - Short Film (Analysed)

"Alone" is a short film that takes place within a post-apocalypic world, the story is told through the perspective of the last known living man within this world. He spends his days gathering food and supplies, recollecting memories from the old world; a time when everything was normal.

This short film that effectively immersed it's audience within the world it is depicting through its use of characters and exposition in order to present the fundamental rule that the lead character follows in his daily routines. The lead character in the media product doesn't speak throughout the entire sequence other than through the film's sound design by having the character express his thoughts through a voice over; an interesting decision made by the film-makers as this infers that the character is addressing the audience as if we are apart of his subconscious, emphasising on the film's main theme of loneliness as the film itself is containing its ideas within the mind of the character.

Overall the direction with this film was extremely effective as it allowed me to be fully immersed within the world the director is presenting as we the lead character allows a window for the audiences to look through and learn the infrastructure of the way the world works all supported through the exposition delivered through the character's voice over.
